Relationship Funnel & Engagement – 80 Percent Email Open Rate?

Why Your Funnel Isn't Working

Have you had a situation where you had your lead magnet, your email series, everything is by the book, but still no results?

People are not clicking... People are not converting...

No, you didn't do anything wrong, setup-wise, at least.

But there's more to conversions than just page layout, design, green button and red button...

The Human Element In Your Sales Funnel

The answer lies in how you nurture your leads.

Would you like to get an 80 percent email open rate and a 10 percent sales conversion rate?

This is NOT a clickbait sentence, Relationship Funnel (or engagement funnel) can give you just that.

Relationship, engagement & trust are the factors that can increase your sales conversion rate from 1 percent to 10 percent, literally 10X'ing your bottom line.

Did I spark your interest?

At the time of original lead conversion, an average of 27% of those leads will be qualified to the point where they are ready and willing to engage with Sales. The remaining 73% are not there yet. When these leads are prematurely sent over to Sales, they are not receiving the experience they desire...

And... companies who properly nurture their leads see a 5X increase in qualified prospects.

And, those that nurture customer relationships, achieve 50% more sales at a 33% lower cost.

The bottom line is, when people know that you care about them and their needs, they’ll open their wallets.

What Is Engagement?

The definition we usually see for engagement is public shares, likes, follows and comments for an online business' social media efforts.

Engagement has historically been a common metric for evaluating social media performance.

There are different levels of engagement - shares and likes tell you about the popularity of a given post, follows indicate a higher level.

However, this is not what I am telling you about.

Rather, I am talking about a series of actions that your subscriber/follower takes.

If correctly done, each of these actions result in a win, increasing their willingness to follow your instructions... and this will eventually result in sales.

Because a purchase is just a high level of engagement.

The Opposite Of Engagement...

... is disconnect.

If you open your spam folder and click on a link inside an email, this is what you experience.

E. g. you see this in the email:

Walmart Gift card

Then you click on it and this is what you get - Are you over 18?

The worst one I have seen so far was "Hit reply to unsubscribe"... and the reply email would have been sent to the New York Times' email and another 5 similar websites.

When a customer expects one thing, but is given something completely different, no matter how good that “different” thing is, it can result in a sour impression and a lower conversion rate.

Micro-Engagement Hacks

The idea is to get your reader to take small actions.

If they take small actions, eventually it will be easier to get them to take bigger actions.

If these small actions result in a win for them, they will be more likely to follow your instructions, because they trust you and you became their authority.

Additionally, your readers select themselves by engaging, they will be higher quality leads, less likely to unsubscribe.

We are talking about simple things like a "click to continue" call to action.

Or a simple survey that lets you correctly tag/segment your subscribers.

Because obviously not all of them are facing the same problem, and there's nothing that turns off engagement more than telling someone how to set up hosting when they already have a blog and they struggle with conversions.

Don't forget hat you are dealing with individuals...

We are not just talking about the prospect’s name, but their location and other items, like actions that they took (or didn’t take).

E. g. If they purchased an e-book or they didn't...

Or the specific problem they tried to solve by signing up for your email list.

Or... Funnel Bot in their Facebook Messenger...

This is the first I am hearing of funnel and it is definitely very impressive! Great insight! Thanks for sharing!

I have a very personal email funnel system but I find the problem is no one opens the emails.
So I feel I’m writing them for no reason.

Yes, this is a problem many people run into these days. There is a technology to increase opens, which is only effective if it’s done from the very beginning of the funnel. My funnel operates with a 40 percent open rate.

This is the first time that I heard about this particular relationship funnel and I must admit I am quite impressed! I will definitely check on this further.

Wow, the evidence really speaks for itself. This is a game changer for newsletter marketing!

Dorit March 12, 2018

Relationship funnel sounds like a great technique. It is hard to get people to open the newsletters and even harder to get them to click.

Ada March 13, 2018

This was such an interesting read. It’s always interesting to know why things are converting and all of that.

I have never heard of a relationship funnel when it comes to engagement and growth. But it does sound like an interesting concept. And of course I would love to increase my engagement and help my growth. So I will be researching more and seeing if it is a good thing they are offering.

This looks like a really good resource for entrepreneurs. I like that it is available in e-book form.

Nadine March 16, 2018

Sounds quite interesting. I never heard of it before – seems like a very helpful thing to have!
