Especially for beginners, if you are new to selling, it is a great way to gain momentum.

It is a lot faster to put together and a good way to test your product idea.

What is exactly a tripwire?

An Easy-Yes Offer.

It is an inexpensive product that has very high perceived value.

It is also called an intro offer. Either way it’s an extremely low-cost, value-soaked offer you make to a new subscriber once joined your list.

Just because it is inexpensive, it doesn’t mean it’s low quality – that shouldn’t be the case, because it is your first opportunity to turn people into buyers.

They usually cost $1, $7, $12, $17, $29, $37.

Why Create Tripwires

Now I know it sounds a bit aggressive to push someone to buy when they have no clue who the hell you are and if your product is any good…

Yes, there are two opinions on this. One says it is a suicidal error to force someone new to your list to buy.

But listen to the other opinion:

They signed up to your list because they have a problem. The sky is falling.

And you’d be a Grade A assface if you had super simple yet dangerously effective system for soothing that problem, but you made them wait 5-20 days to let them know about it.

Because they want results now, they need results now, and they don’t have time to damn waste it.

So why not reward those driven action takers – the ones who will actually do what we say and get results fasts – with unheard of 75%-90% discount off a product laser-crafted to propel them forward now?

Exactly.

The goal is not profit, but that doesn’t mean tripwires are not profitable.

They can be extremely profitable, you can easily add $500-$1,000 per month just with a tripwire.

But the main goal beyond profit is that after that first sale it is easier to get people to trust you.

It demonstrates your expertise.

You want to make this offer a no-brainer and almost risk-free.

What Subject?

When creating a tripwire, you should follow the law of alignment.

This is how this should flow:

Establish the category of your traffic
The lead magnet should match that
A tripwire should be on the same subject also

It can be offered on the Thank You page, but you can also offer it in your welcome sequence.

You can do both, because ir is a known fact that an average potential buyer needs to see your offer about 7 times before they buy.

Always work on one tripwire at a time.

It shouldn’t take more than 2 weeks to set one up.

Get up a sales page, connect it to your payment processor

After you have done a tripwire, the next thing you can conquer is a Small Product Funnel.

Let’s say you have a small product, like an e-book.

It’s a small product funnel, because you are not adding any other elements. No webinar, no challenge, no video, no giveaway.

You start selling with just a simple email sequence.

You will need the following:

A traffic source
Landing Page
Opt-in form/Exit pop-up
Lead magnet

Product Pitch

You would also have some kind of a deadline to create urgency.

At the beginning, pick one traffic source.

Facebook, Pinterest, organic Google traffic. Just pick one that works for you.

For me SEO is my main traffic source. It took me a while to build it up.
